Alaska Trip Day 1 and 2 Onward to Seattle

A Retelling of my trip to Alaska with helpful hints and insight into what I would do again and what I wouldn't.

                             Day 1 Onward to Seattle

Just getting to the ship was a trip in itself. Got up at 5:00 am, flew from Florida to Nashville,TN then we arrived in Seattle at 1:00 PM. After picking up our rental car we were having difficulty getting out of the airport and when we were driving around for the second time and cars were passing us we noticed that our car didn't have a mile guage. It was in kilometers. Thank goodness my Dad remembered some high school math. After getting lost some more we arrived at the Woodland Park Zoo. Unfortunately, it was raining cat and dogs and that meant no camera and wet shoes. I did get a penny from one of the penny machines at the zoo, though. After that fiasco we went in search of our hotel, a Days Inn, which was located in downtown Seattle. Mom and I were down for the count so we convinced Dad to pick up Outback take out for us and then we crashed.

                                     Seattle Day 2

Had the continental breakfast then walked to the Space Needle that was not open yet and looked around. Here are some of the photos I took in Seattle, some from outside, some from inside. With time to kill, we window shopped and went to City Center where we had Starbucks and found some more penny machines. It rained a bit but we were able to dodge raindrops as we went into a few stores. When the Space Needle opened, it was worth the wait as the elevator raised us to a vantage point that took me by surprise.
A note of warning: those afraid of heights probably shouldn't look down. Good photo opportunities await those who dare to make the climb and venture outside the enclosed needle to look down upon the city of Seattle.

After the Space Needle we went to Pike Place Market, had the best fried cod ever, shopped some more, and took in the sights, found yet more penny machines, and got lost some more while looking for the first Starbucks.
Right near the starbucks was a bakery where we were able to get two gluten free cookies. (My Mom and I both have food allergies.)
That was the last thing we did before leaving Seattle to head for Vancover, BC.
