We flew to CA for my sixteenth birthday present to visit the San Diego Zoo and spent a week there. We also visited La Jolla for a little bit. This was my first trip with my camera. I have since upgraded to a DSLR, but for the time that was the right camera. A funny story about the seal beach.
There are two signs posted by this little access point that leads to what used to be a children's swimming area. Now its primary use is as a seal rest area but the city still allows access to the area. The animal rights protesters have now placed their own signs.
Overall an amusing situation. (See pictures of the signs at the beginning.) I could have spent all day watching the seals but my parents had other plans. Als, the place we parked had a time limit. After taking numerous photos I reluctantly gave into their plans. we ate lunch at a rooftop restaurant, not wonderful, but not bad either.
Then we went to a somewhat tourist trap called The Cave Store which is a shop where you can pay 4 dollars to walk down some unusually spaced steps to reach a lookout spot with an amazing view.
After The Cave Store we went to the aquarium, not really worth it. It is much better to watch the seals than going to the aquarium. The seal viewing is free and the seals are wild and in their natural habitat.
