Alaska Trip Days 2,3 Vancouver All Aboard!

                   Day 2 Continues

After leaving Pike's Place we headed to Vancouver via the scenic route 11 where it started to hail causing a delay. It took several hours and it was sort of worth it minus the time. The border crossing went smoothly and then we were in Canada. Where we found our hotel and went in search of some food. We ended up eating at an Italian restaurant called Il Nido. They were very friendly and curtious and the food was excellant. After dinner, we shopped. I had wanted some 2010 Olympic gear and found a shirt and hat. It was a long day but excitment was building as we departed the following day.

Day 3 All Aboard!

The Days Inn in downtown Vancouver was great. My mom was a little concerned after reading some negative reviews but we ended up with a suite after expecting 1 queen bed. They were very helpful in getting us to the dock on time with all our luggage. They managed to take us ahead of a group of 100 who were also heading to the Radiance of the Seas. If I had a chance to do it again, I would like to spend more time in Vancover and see the sights. One night is not enough but that was all we had the chance for. The embarkment went smoothly and
The First Eagles of the Trip

we were able to explore the ship some while waiting to get into our room Unfortunately, we had the 6:00 dinner which was great every night but this night. The ship got off late and we were unable to see Vancover from that back of the ship beacuse we had to get ready for dinner. I missed some good photos of the surounding area. My advice to anyone traveling: don't forget to get pictures of your port city. I missed my chance and here's to wishing you don't. We really lucked out with our room. we got upgraded somehow for free and got a junior sweet instead of a regular balcony. The view from the rooms is good but for the best photo results you should be on the back of the ship when leaving port. Then you can get the recedingcity and any other landmarks without hinderance from the boat or your balcony ceiling. Over all our trip went smoothly to this point and there are only a few things I would change. Oh, another litlle bit of advice. If you see a sunset take advantage of it. I only saw one and that was the first or second night. The best place to get the photo is on the front heli pad and that area is televized so be warned.

This is One of those Sunest Photos

So is this one

This is the middle of the ship. There is a room where you can look staright down though glass. It is hard to find but well worth it.
